Film Soundtracks Top 10 Reply to Thread

Hi Frederik :tiphat: I must agree I did forget the Last of the Mohicans and as you say it is one of the best sound tracks at the moment  although I still cannot understand why no one seems to rate the patriot is it because our cousins on the other side of the pond got the better of the pompous hierachy of the day I wonder ? still as far as I am concerned most film scores are there to enhance the story so if the film is voted as outstanding then the film score will have had a very big hand in the success of the film so it is as you say incredibly hard to make a top ten so lets all just enjoy what we like & continue to love Music  www.timpitman.com now this is music

Did everyone forget about The Last of the Mohicans? If you ask me, it is a timeless classic at this point, and one of the best soundtracks.
It is, IMO, incredibly hard to make a top ten since there are so many awesome soundtracks.
But the top Fourteen for me in no particular order is:

Lord of The Rings Trilogy
Gladiator
The Last of The Mohicans
King Arthur
Rain Man (The Hans Zimmer bits)
Michael Kamen - Highlander theme
Band of Brothers
Last Samurai
StarWars
Pirates of The Caribbean
Escaflowne
Spirited Away
Princess Mononoke
Don Davis - The Matrix

in no order.
a beutiful mind
the village
the mission
the last of the mohicans
lord of the rings one and two
road to perdition
master and command
the last samurai
gladiator
braveheart

I agree with your choices here:
A Beautiful Mind,
The Mission,
The Last of The Mohicans,
Gladiator,
Braveheart.

Not too crazy about other positions. But regardless of actual choices, if your list doesn't have at least a handful of Zimmer scores on it - you're not listening...

As far as Patriot score - it just didn't do it for me - though I do have it on my hard-drive somewhere. It just wasn't very memorable/touching to me. The exception is one particular piece from the actual Patriot movie trailer. It's titled The Escape (by Craig Armstrong), and was actually taken from a soundtrack to another movie:
