• Welcome to the Pipe Organ Forum! This is a part of the open community Magle International Music Forums focused on pipe organs (also known as "church organs"), organists, organ music and related topics.

This forum is intended to be a friendly place where technically advanced organists and beginners (or even non-organists) can feel comfortable having discussions and asking questions. We learn by reading and asking questions, and it is hoped that the beginners (or non-organists) will feel free to ask even the simplest questions, and that the more advanced organists will patiently answer these questions. On the other hand, we encourage complex, technical discussions of technique, music, organ-building, etc. The opinions and observations of a diverse group of people from around the world should prove to be interesting and stimulating to all of us.

As pipe organ discussions can sometimes become lively, it should be pointed out that this is an open forum. Statements made here are the opinion of the poster, and not necessarily that of the forum itself, its administrator, or its moderators.

In order to post a new topic - or reply to existing ones - you may join and become a member by clicking on Register New User. It's completely free and only requires a working email address (in order to confirm your registration - it will never be given away!). We strive to make this a friendly and informative forum for anyone interested in pipe organs and organ music.

GO 1471 error 6

Tests :

Set Marcussen Ram 7.773,438 MB (not limited)
24bit 48000Hz All loops, attack, releases, no mem limit, no losseless, 128 buffers
Enhancements : only Randomize pipe speaking is checked

Load with no cache :
CL : 4, RC : 4, LC : 0 = 02:54 min first load, all subsequent (reload or close GO and load again) at 01:28

Time needed to create cache (5.21GB) : 21:14 min

Load with the same settings with cache : 2min

Load with LC at 4 no cache : 2:03 min (!!!) error 6 present = No need to do cache (same time) ???? !

Load with LC at 8 no cache : estimated 0:48 sec !!!! Failed to load : Log says :

15/12/2013 9:53:06 μμ: can't open file '' (error 3: το σύστημα δεν είναι σε θέση να εντοπίσει την καθορισμένη διαδρομή δίσκου.)
15/12/2013 9:53:06 μμ: caught exception: Failed to open file ''

15/12/2013 9:53:06 μμ: Failed to open file ''

Second attempt to load with LC=8 estimated 1:38, loaded at 0:50 and a sudden GO crash happened :-(

Load with LC=2 : loaded at 1:05 min !!!!!!!!!!!!! error 6 present

Load with LC=2 and cache on : loaded at 2:03 min NO ERROR 6 even if LC is at 2.

Load with LC=4 and cache on : loaded at 2:01 min NO ERROR 6 too.

So best off all is LC=2 and no cache ???????

To do the loads with no cache I moved temporarily the cache file into another location than the one GO expects to find it.

Are you using the compressed cache (don't confuse with lossless compression)? This solution does not scale with big sets - therefore the GO default is the uncompressed cache.

Please note, that LC is only in effect, if GO does not load from cache (In your GO version, error 6 means LC is in effect and no cache is used and no error 6 means load from cache or LC =0).

Looks, like LC is not completly free from race conditions - it will improve in future version.

Yep when cache was in, it was compressed :)

I'll run one more with uncompressed cache, but it looks like I got fast speed with LC=2 (1:05min, no cache) even if error 6 is shown up and it is the best load time here of an almost 8GB set ! Impressive.

I can say that I've noticed a significant increase in loading speed in 1471 when not loading from the cache. I have a windows 7 machine with a quad core processor, 8 GB ram, and an SSD. Previously without the cache, the organ that I typically use takes about 90 seconds to load. Using revision 1471 with concurrency set to 4, the same set loads in about 40 seconds. An excellent improvement (about 45% of the previous time)!
