• Welcome to the Pipe Organ Forum! This is a part of the open community Magle International Music Forums focused on pipe organs (also known as "church organs"), organists, organ music and related topics.

This forum is intended to be a friendly place where technically advanced organists and beginners (or even non-organists) can feel comfortable having discussions and asking questions. We learn by reading and asking questions, and it is hoped that the beginners (or non-organists) will feel free to ask even the simplest questions, and that the more advanced organists will patiently answer these questions. On the other hand, we encourage complex, technical discussions of technique, music, organ-building, etc. The opinions and observations of a diverse group of people from around the world should prove to be interesting and stimulating to all of us.

As pipe organ discussions can sometimes become lively, it should be pointed out that this is an open forum. Statements made here are the opinion of the poster, and not necessarily that of the forum itself, its administrator, or its moderators.

We strive to make this a friendly and informative forum for anyone interested in pipe organs and organ music.

Invalid Riff file error

Dear,

Recently I downloaded the Orgue d'Aubigny both in 16 bits and 24 bits format. After installing, opening in GranOrgue (v0.3.1.1386) gives an error around the RIFF file for both versions. This prevents GO from loading the organ.

Log messages window:
< Invalid RIFF file
caught exception: < Invalid RIFF file
unhandled exception: < Invalid RIFF file

Any idea where to look what the problem is here?

Best regards,
Dries

OK, thanks. Downloaded 1633 64bits and now I was able to open the disposition without any error. Even no info about a specific file that would be corrupted..(?)

Is the sampleset wavpack compressed?
Using such a sampleset on a older GO would also print this error message.

Think this is the case here. How can I recognize that this are compressed wav files? It was indeed not possible to open the wav's in a normal wav editor. How can I open this compressed wav files?

New member here. Near New Orleans, LA.
Problem: I have the Aubigny Grand Orgue downloaded. It works here on my desk computer (W 8.1) but I don't have a keyboard here. But Grand Orgue won't load it--same install, same files, etc.--on the computer (W 7) I have attached to my Allen organ. Other organs from Lacaud work, and also the Pitea music school organ loads up just fine. But I still keep getting invalid RIFF for the Aubigny one, but only on one computer and not the other one. Any ideas? Thanks.

What GO version?

Thanks. I originally had v. 0.3.6.1726. Noticed message above about 64 bits so I went back to Source Forge and got that version. Installed on Allen organ computer and Aubigny loaded up just fine with no trouble. That was the problem. Thanks for all the comments. All is well.
