Last.fm streaming audio

Has lost the plot; this afternoon they stopped their streaming audio service (I only paid my monthly subscription 3 days ago) They have now gone over to showing Youtube videos - with adverts - instead of maybe hearing a few tracks from my "library" repeated during a day, most of my choices appear to have vanished and a few tracks repeated about hourly.

So far I have only heard 2 baroque works, one of those (twice) a piano transcription of a Purcell prelude instead of the harpsichord version.

I have needless to say cancelled my subscription and sent them a snotty email.

All I want is a continuous audio stream - not video - randomly selected from a big "library" with no adverts and if necessary a small subscription say under £5; Spotify offer a "premium" service for £9 a month, 3 times what lasr.fm charged.

Sorry to hear about their format changing ... guess it's all about 'money' these days. I too loathe the adverts now that accompany simple youtube vids.

I've been a paid subscriber to Pandora for many years, but it's only available in the US, Australia and New Zealand.

There is a site called "organ live" that has good selections ... best yet, it's free, but they do have a few announcements here and there. More like a podcast I suppose.

One of our members, CMB is the radio host for Classical Music Broadcast and Opera Music Broadcast, both free, but also solicit donations if one is so moved.

What I liked about last.fm was that you coud choose a large number of albums, not restricted to any single genre and they would play random selections therefrom, so I could have some Buxtehude immediately followed by some big band swing or small group jazz followed by Purcell choral work, I could also have selected a number of albums from a single genre f I felt that way inclined.

Had a look at a couple of others, no decision yet

Wow ... I didn't know that they used to allow that kind of customization in their formatting. I can see why you liked that site up until recently.
