    Wireless mouse and keyboard

I recently bought a wireless mouse for the laptop, it has a transmit/receive within a USB plug, claimed to have a range of 10 metres, I see they also do keyboards with the same type of connection, are they likely to be on slightly differing frequencies, so that one could use the same type of mouse - or keyboard - on another PC nearby, or are they likely to interact; I want to replace K/B's on 2 desktops and contemplate getting wireless ones but if they're likely to interfere then obviously it's a no-no.

From what little I know, the use of a wireless keyboard and/or mouse requires "pairing" whereby the devices can only respond to a like device, usually in close range.

There are other instances where this "pairing" takes place multiple times during use, and as such changes the frequency slightly each time which aids in keeping interference from other similar devices and/or eavesdropping.

I have not experienced any problems with multiple users having wireless mice/keyboards on different machines within the same room. My wife's workplace has a meeting room with laptops, each one with a wireless mouse - there are 20 of these units within this meeting room, and there is no interference between machines.

Some of the wireless devises now connect via a bluetooth connection.

I've never had any interference when using my external speaker along with my mobile phone ... even in public places with others having like conversations with their mobile devices.

Seems to be working fine, less than 4' apart, mouse only on a laptop, mouse and K/B on a PC.
    Cheers MIKE.

That's great to hear, Mike ...

Although I rather liked Colin's view on buggering up a neighbor ...
