Frederik Magle, movie star, a cometary query.

In the closed, similarly titled thread now below, Frederik Magle said it's enjoyable when he hears his music being used by another, and we're seeing movie or video here.

I'd like to know how this rates compared to hearing your music in different ways, on the radio, seeing yourself on television or a video, even watching someone trying to be a clone of you.

A band led by a guitarist friend got on a compilation album for a Buffalo radio station. He asked me if I wanted to drive the van so I could go along for the gig, also knowing I'm a non-smoker, non-drinker, and a business border crosser, before Buffalo burned. As we were driving to Fort Erie, his song came on the radio, and it was more exciting for me to be there and hear that than almost everything else except playing onstage myself.

Hmmm! Now I know what it feels like to start a thread I think is conductive,
only to see no replies.
Sometimes not seeing someone else is worse than not seeing yourself.
I am cooking squash. Now I feel like one.

As for me, no one has yet to perform anything I have composed mainly because the scores are still within my brain and have not been entered into any notation program.
That process of composing is tedious for me ... one note at a time, one measure at a time. If I had a midi capable organ console it would be much simpler, but alas "midi" wasn't even though much about when that organ was built in 1979.

Those who are fortunate enough to have a VPO at their disposal have all the means for producing scores. It is my hope and dream someday to hear my compositions played by someone else ... or at least to have them in print for legacy reasons.

It's interesting that you're thinking notation as much as performance.
Sometimes it's better to let your own music percolate through the ages,
refining the musical structure until you are satisfied yourself.
I've got some songs that are just the favorite parts of older songs,
and I'm still working on a song I began as a teenager.
If I wasn't still a virgin in some ways I'd have the new content to finish it.
Or, for proper notation, should that be new contentment?
