Earlier today: Holst "Venus, The Bringer of Peace" with my Yr 8 class, then on the way home, a very enjoyable Guitar Concerto on the radio (not the Rodrigo) which they didn't back-announce and I wish they did!

@ Montefalco: yes, but which version? I own about 12 (my favourite Rite recording is Czech Philharmonic with Neumann).

I've been wading my way through The Ring of the Nibelung, English National Opera, in English. Rita Hunter as Broom-holder, Alberto Ramadios as Siegfried and Reginald Goodall at the helm. One of my favourite recordings (despite Goodall's very slow tempi).
I'm not an atheist and I don't think I can call myself a pantheist. We are in the position of a little child entering a huge library filled with books in many different languages. The child knows someone must have written those books. It does not know how. The child dimly suspects a mysterious order in the arrangement of the books but doesn't know what it is. That, it seems to me, is the attitude of even the most intelligent human being toward God.

@ David - Mariss Jansons, Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra. The only other recording I have is with Stravinsky conducting the Columbia Symphony Orchestra, which I don't like as much, although the opening bassoon solo is done extremely well.

Today, listened to Scelsi's Quattro Pezzi (su una nota sola)

    Hi Guys,
i love classic music and listen classic music
I listen to it from time to time

classical music is perfectly fine while doing homework/studying…my friend did a science fair experiment on that and it showed that classical music helps

I have the impression that more and more except in upper class families people and their children don't seem to appreciate classical music. That's a pity I think.
