    On Spotify:

Henk Badings--Symphony No.2 and Symphony No.7 {"Louisville Symphony"}. Both works feature the Janacek Philharmonic Orchestra led by David Porcelijn. I especially like the 7th's haunting and melodic adagio movement, which makes very nice use of all the "symphonic colors" to create an overall mood: Janacek Philharmonic Orchestra – Symphony No. 7, "Louisville Symphony": III. Adagio.
Vagn Holmboe--Symphony No.1, Op.4, performed by the Aarhus Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Owain Arwel Hughes. For me, the fact that the second movement segues right into the final movement without a pause, going from andante to allegro energico, with the theme continuing to be taken up by different sections of the orchestra, created a very dramatic effect.
Ludwig Van Beethoven--Symphony No.1 in C Major, Op.21, featuring Josef Krips conducting the London Symphony Orchestra. As always, a masterpiece from start to finish!

I'm not sure what's classical any more. Most "classical" music that I hear is simply used for soundtracks because the royalties have run out. I know living composers wouldn't appreciate that as a category definitive, because royalties are their payment. And how can you compare modern composers who use computers to "write" music, when they're not writing. Most "classical" computer programs can allow you to hear your notes right away, something pre-electronic composers probably never even thought of. So you can be using tablatures and the same notes "classical musicians" used, but you're not writing and not playing. That's a big difference.

Sampling doesn't count, even if that's a big use out there, beyond royalties, beyond the actual recording and players.

Maybe sampling should count, as non-classical behavior, but part of the digital arsenal of modern composers.

Even I can take an old piece and change the lettering so it looks like mine for anyone else printing it out.
I could even scan Corno Dolce's receipt for his bass and alter it so I can prove it's mine.

Was that classical music I was listening to? I'm not sure.
I'll definitely be playing that classically inspired upright grand again,
even if I'm leaving my notes just hanging in the air.
Bon mots, just like the candies sur la bowle at receptione.
Now I'm not even sure if I'm speaking English or French.
Bilingualization! Wrap your, uh, tongue around that.

    Hi John Watt,

Sounds like you're getting close to paralysis by analysis - Seriously, relax - JSBach's Brandenburg Concertos or any symphony by Haydn will help restore ones thinking what classical music is. Imo, it is music that is timeless, a gift from a timeline that knows no time, a tidbit of that which is Eternal.
*If a man wants God to hear his prayer quickly, then before he prays for anything else, even his own soul, when he stands and stretches out his hands towards God, he must pray with all his heart for his enemies. Through this action God will hear everything that he asks* -Abba Zeno-

*Protagoras: "Truth is subjective. What is true for you, and what is true for me, is true for me. Your opinion is true by virtue of its being your opinion."

*Socrates: "My opinion is: Truth is absolute, not opinion, and that you are in absolute error. Since this is my opinion, then according to your philosophy you must grant that it is true."

Yes, Corno Dolce is right again, I'm typing more than I'm playing.
And seeing "Les Gymnopedies" reminds me of my favorite, mellowing out chords,
Cmaj7 to Fmaj7. I might sound, not like lilies floating on a calm garden pond, all the time.
Giving it the Jimi treatment, with a tremolo arm, can sound like twisting vines crawling out at you,
wrapping around your legs as you submerge with electric mermen and merwomen, pulling, drawing you deeper,
    until they release,
and the soft, phased textures of dual pickups feeds back slowly, as the water resumes it's normal level.
If you're not careful, coming up from the watery deeps, you might get the bends, rendering it a hard core blues.
