In Denmark we are lucky to have Karl Aage Rasmussen. He is a professor in music, he is a composer and he is a marvelous writer. He has just finished a book, a biography of Sviatoslav Richter.
He has also writen great books about Robert Schumann and Glenn Gould and great essays about many composers.
So I read a chapter, then find some of the music mentioned. Not only played by Richter, but also played by Gilels, Yudina, Gawrilow, Oistrakh – there are so many GREATS. For an amateur (lover) like me, it is great fun and I learn a lot, and my love for music growes.
Late night I listened to:
Prokofief 7. symphony, pianosonata no 3 and visions fugitives.
"Petites Esquisses d'Oiseaux" by Olivier Messiaen.
3rd Sonata by Aleksandr Skrjabin.
