    Aloha Ms. Judy,

May I ask what is Placido Domingo singing that caused you much contentment?

Might it be this work with which I wooed my wife?:

I was listening to him sing a classical Mexican song called Jalisco. I haven't
heard this song since I was a kid visiting Lubbock, Texas. Somewhere in
that city a Mexican shop was at a shopping mall playing that song.
Even that sounded great because the music is so happy and full of life
just like other polkas. But this one stands out. Here's the video I was
listening to.YouTube - Placido Domingo-Ay,Jalisco no te rajes
Corno, this is the song. What a Voice!

I watched An Evening With Danny Kaye. Quite amusing.

    Here's what was played:

overture to "die fledermaus" / strauss (zubin mehta, conductor)
    "tritsch-tratsch polka" / strauss
overture to "la gazza ladra" / rossini
overture & dance miniatures from "the nutcracker suite" / tchaikovsky
"du, du" excerpt from "die fledermaus" / strauss
triumphal march from "aida" / verdi
"look sharp" march / m. merrick
excerpt from symphony no. 5, last movement / beethoven
"the flight of the bumble bee" / rimsky-korsakov
"dance of the hours" / ponchielli
symphony no. 9 (scherzo excerpt) / schubert
excerpt from symphony no. 8, first movement / beethoven
    "fiddle-faddle" / leroy anderson
march from "the nutcracker suite" / tchaikovsky
"carnival of venice" / j. bellak
"stars and stripes forever" / sousa.

A great favourite of mine, Brahms's B flat major piano concerto, but today I'm listening to some of J.S. Bach's organ music including the two great Chorale Partitas 'Sei gegrusset . .' and 'O Gott, du frommer Gott' and the Canonic Variations on 'Vom Himmel hoch..'

    Smile Placido Domingo

Just thought I would let everyone know, the new Placido Domingo album is out in stores now, I just picked mine up and I think it is really great! http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001NXRDHG?ie=UTF8&tag=various02-20&linkCode=xm2&camp=1789&creativeASIN=B001NXRDHG

His new album “Amore Infinite” is a bunch of songs that were inspired by poetry from John Paul II and has some other really great artist appearances like Josh Groban, Andrea Bocelli and Katherine Jenkins. I found this youtube video with Josh and Placido Domingo showing some of their recording sessions and interviewing them about how they feel about the songs. You should really check it out, here’s the link:

Great works by Rachmaninoff, those Symphonic Dances, but this morning I was listening to something quite different : French keyboard music (played on the piano by Cyprien Katsaris) form the early 17th century onwards.

Gabriel Fauré's incidental music to Shylock interpreted by Peter Conte on the Wanamaker organ - I almost never tire of hearing it.

    Aloha rovikered,

Aha, I see you listened to one of Messiaen's *Régards* - I am always intrigued by those pieces - I find them much fun to play.

    Cheers,

    Corno Dolce, Greetings !

    Messiaen's 'Regards . . .' - 'fun to play' ?!
I haven't tried; I don't have a score. But the small amount of Messiaen I have played, some of his organ music, I find difficult (even 'Le Banquet Celeste', which must be one of his easiest pieces). However, Messiaen is a great favourite of mine and for me his music is rewarding, inspiring, breathtaking and overwhelming, but not 'fun'.
