Best tip for a beginner at the piano? Simple answer: get thyself a tutor or teacher to learn the right way from the beginning. Beginners can't possibly pick up all the nuances of playing this fine instrument whilst constantly struggling learning all the new notes. There are right ways to play the piano and there are wrong ways.

And as Bill states above, practice is very essential ... lots of practice ... When I was a beginner at the piano, I practiced at least 3 hours every day ... My teacher was very adamant about me doing just that and could tell if I didn't spend enough time practicing.

My signature below bears a philosophy I stumbled upon years ago ...

Hi, beginner here. I have a question on reading music and timing. I am learning to read music and play but I'm not always sure of some notations and timing.
If I may illustrate here. I would like to know how to play the following notes.
thanks.

How should I play the twin notes on the bass lines, E's F's G's , etc. on the bass lines.
How should I play Allargando?

Many thanks.

Really simple question..on that pattern ( measure before the allargando.)..strike the E on the count (1) and the G on the (&) ----1 & 2 & etc
while holding the E until released for beat 3 to play the F etc..... Growing broader, louder and slower is Allargando as you see with the poco rit ( meaning with slower tempo ). Hope this helps.
