I'm from the Caribbean and Soca Music is the music of the Caribbean alongside other genres like Reggae and Dancehall music. It hurts to know that so many people around the world are not aware of this beautiful genre so I thought I'd share.

"Soca music (a fusion of the genres of soul and calypso) is a genre of Caribbean music that originated within a marginalized subculture in Trinidad and Tobago in the late 1970s, and developed into a range of styles in the 1980s and later. Soca developed as an offshoot of kaiso/calypso, with influences from cadence, funk and soul.
Soca has evolved in the last 20 years primarily through musicians from various Anglophone Caribbean countries including Trinidad, Guyana, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines,Barbados, Grenada, Saint Lucia, Antigua and Barbuda, United States Virgin Islands, British Virgin Islands, The Bahamas, Dominica, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Jamaica, Belize andMontserrat. There have also been significant productions from artistes in Canada, Panama, Guatemala, United States, United Kingdom and Japan."

You don't have to hope I enjoyed some of these videos, I did,
especially the visuals for Machel Montano "Waiting on the Stage".

If I was playing soca, and some soci, again, I'd have a new name for myself.
Rundeep, as in still waters run deep.
Seeing all the action around your waves, the waters around here are still,
and the beaches at night are dark.
Here's a long beach shot of Canadian Lake Erie north of Buffalo.
As you can see, I'm all alone out there. At least my feet have each other.
