Hey wljmrbill! Don't hesitate to get an insecure wireless connection with the hospital.
That might suit your mood after your close call,
and running around outside looking for a signal should be good exercise.

I have what they call "the Carbide cough".
I worked at the Union Carbide for eight months in 1977,
working to buy a van for a band and moving to Toronto.
Twice, in that time, I got what the company called bronchitis,
and the union called it black lung disease.
They said when I get older and get a cold, I should watch out for pneumonia.
What coughing I've been doing is getting better.

I woke up with a fever of 104 to 105, delirious, for two days.
And then I was sick in bed for two weeks, both times.
My mother had to tell my younger brothers not to ask me about my girlfriends,
because I would babble on about anything and tell them everything.

The Union Carbide gave you two days off without pay, and let you stay home until you came back,
with a letter from your doctor.

Your lungs are one of the more amazing parts of the human body.
They regenerate themselves every six months.
If you quit smoking by the time you are forty, they still will come back to normal.
There, I just took a deep breath and felt that rasp in my chest.
