A young arena employee gave me this line about the word, media,
making everyone dumb in america.
I'm happy to see you've torn your war-torn and tired eyeballs away to see a rich humanity.
Corporate America would make you think their blues, blues guitar, is the basis for American music.
Maybe, but what about the horrors of slavery that created that style, that expression?
How can a modern musician be expected to relate to all of that?

I think I'm going to look at some Lake Erie ice storm photos, and the videos I made.
That's a lot calmer.

challenge the way you think and what you know

I think pictures of Lake Erie are calmer. But, in reality for some, life is not that calm. It can be complicated, stressful, agonizing, frightening, and traumatic in all facets of everyday life. The music that is created from those who are oppressed, maybe exactly how ones feel. Bringing awareness can be surface, at the same time the pure emotions evoked can be just as real as the ice storms you mention. Without, the calming serenity of a picture some music can bring a different kind of storm.

I'm seeing what you're saying, storms, and a different kind of storm.
What your meaning is, I can only guess,
but I'm seeing it as hearing "dark piano" and "dark organ" by Frederik Magle.
You're right about awareness being on the surface,
but our emotions and tensions can be a heavy flow, and run deep.
It always surprises me, when I'm singing, and they surface.
