Rick sparks combines piano and synth to create lovely quiet music

Rick Sparks is one of those new age musicians who knows how to create exceptional moods and feelings by combining piano and synthesizer sounds. He goes in for the traditional new age regimen of soft-and-slow. The nice piano melodies are bolstered by the synthesizer creating either the string section from a symphony orchestra or the sounds of an ethereal female choir singing wordlessly. Then occasionally a switch is flipped on the synth and it is reproducing musical accents from instrumentation such as flute, violin or chimes.

On the new Sparks album, Nightfall London, he shows his abilities to compose some pretty melodies and then arrange or orchestrate them for consumption. The overall influence for this album is Great Britain and, more specifically, London. Apparently Sparks is a lover of all things Brit, which he used for general inspiration (although on one instrumental piece he strays to Japan for inspiration and on another he heads to the Scottish highlands).

This latest CD follows three previous ones -- Matilda’s Flowers, Endless and Christmas Love. You may have heard his music on SiriusXM’s Spa or Escape channels. He also has performed in concert backing acts ranging from The 5th Dimension's Marilyn McCoo & Billy Davis Jr. to American Idol finalist Phil Stacey.

So take some computer time and check out Rick Sparks for quiet music perfect for your next dinner party or bedroom frolic.
