    Organ concert

I am planning to give a organ concert soon. I think I schould begin the concert with J S Bach's Prelude and Fuge in e-minor BWV 548 called "Bach's organ symphonie". And I think I schould play Max Reger's choral fantasy "Halleluja, Gott zu loben bleibet meine Seelenfreud" as final and some short pieces between this great works. Perhaps Bach's An Wasserfl├╝ssen Babylon...

One of my favorites. But it is the first time I see it cited as the "Bach's organ symphonie". I know it more as the "wedge". Well, this refers to the accompanying fugue whose subject is unrolled in a wedge manner around MI (E), but I think it characterises the whole work too. From what I remember, not too long after the beginning, the fugue has one very interesting passage, that is repeated after a recall of the main subject, surprising the hearer and leading to another level of sophistication in contrapunctual expressivity full of mystery mood (for my elementary understanding that is). A similar passage, but not so much contrasted to the rest of the piece, can be found in the prelude too. I have not seen the score yet, but it looks like it is based on asynchronous movements (hands and feet if I get it correctly), that are in perfect melodic harmony between them. Overall it is a composition that fascinates me so much, and I just hope to be able one day to play it from the beginning to the end.
