Right you are, Judy ... she was born in 1934 in your city, according to online sources. Famous people do come from your neck of the woods ... kinda nice.

Just in case anyone's interested in still playing this game according to its rules, we're actually at "d," right now, from Henri Rabaud, the last composer mentioned who was a legitimate entry (the previous one being Helmut Eder).

And while not explicitly articulated in the original post, it should probably be a classical composer as this is, after all, a classical forum.

(Man, I must really be bored to have bothered to write the above!!:))

Hey, no problem.

So, "L," eh? I guess it's time to put in a little plug for one of the finest living composers still working exclusively with acoustic instruments, Helmut Lachenmann. Wildly beautiful stuff, he writes. Such consistently high quality, too.

Gran Torso (all the string quartets, really), Salut für Caudwell, Das Mädchen mit den Schwefelhölzern, Pression, Air... if I don't stop, I'll end up listing all his pieces. And you can do a search online and find those for yourself, eh?
