    I have 3 sacred favorites:
    1) Hark the Herald Angels Sing
    2) Angels We Have Heard on High
    3) Away In A Manger
Christmas is my most favorite time in church - It's a shame we don't get to sing these hymns for more than the usual 2 weeks in our liturgical year.

On the secular side, my favorites are:
    1) The Twelve Days of Christmas
    2) Grandma Got Run Over By A Riendier
    3) Deck the Halls

Seems the merchants like to start celebrating earlier each year here in the US - In my region, we have seen Christmas ornaments, lights and trees in the stores as early as August.

One local radio station plays all Christmas tunes during the month of December.

It will be nice to hear from others on this topic. Thanks, MT, for the post!

Gosh, there`s so much great Christmas music! I tend to prefer the happy, joyful, fast-tempo songs. It should be a happy time, imo.

    Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer
    Let it Snow...
    Deck the Halls
    Jingle Bells
We Wish You a Merry Christmas
    Winter Wonderland
    Jingle Bell Rock

and I love Sleigh Ride, by Leroy Anderson!
''Music, I feel, should be emotional first and intellectual second.'' - Maurice Ravel
''The greatest education in the world is watching the masters at work.'' - Michael Jackson

    Ahhh, Christmas....

I really tend to avoid the christmas carols as much as I can. A few main reasons is that:

One: I work in a major shopping centre, and christmas carols start from November 24th and don't stop until the special day... I have TRULY enough of Deck The Halls and Jingle Bells.

Two: At school our little year 7's learn to play an instrument that they've never touched before, and trust me... Jingle Bells hasn't sounded more monotonious and flat in my life, and listening to it every morning under the library is... NOT 'happy' in any way...

Sorry to be so negative about christmas songs... it's just that they do get old after hearing the same things every year...

Well Ok, I do like one song: 'Last Christmas' by Hawk Nelson

    Good Evening Sir
I know exactly what you mean, but it is the season of good will to all men ( and in todays society all women too) I will definately get beaten for that one, we as a management team also work in major shopping centre's and I really do know what you mean but without the smiling little faces it would not be the same. You know what they say "laugh and the world laughs with you cry and you cry alone".
"Merry Christmas from Sparky" in Somerset UK, I promised myself I would not do this until at least the last week in December but you have now unleased the tiger.

    Merry Chritmas!! Everyone!

But, I wish it was just as Sparky mentioned; cold, snowy weather, etc. But down here in Australia, we're just getting our heat waves, we're just experiencing another scorching summer ahead of us. Haha, instead of pine trees, we should bring home palm trees from the darn hot weather, goodness. Then again... I rather have this hot weather then minus tempretures and getting the short straw and having to go and collect fire wood...

    Anyway, Have a good one!

Wishing all viewers a Very Happy Christmas and a peaceful New Year. I have arranged a lovely Carol for a lovely 94 year old gentleman who sadly is no longer with us. It is called "Had I been a Shepherd" If there are any musicians out there who would like a copy, please contact me on this site.

Hi Sylvie I don't know where you are based but I would love to hear your song if it can be classicalized I would like to have a chance at putting it on my next album the title sounds good if it is festive then we would have to wait till next year although we are doing a couple of live gigs at Glastonbury Abbey early next year so who knows, please contact me on the web site or send me a private message if you prefer Thanks Vic Spark

I'm not religious, but that doesn't stop me enjoying carold (just as it doesn't stop me enjoying Mozart's Requiem, Handel's Messiah and Bach's St Matthew Passion); so my favourite carols are Oh Come All Ye Faithful (used to love doing the descant when I was in choirs), In dulcio jubilo and Silent Night.

On the secular front, Eartha Kitt's Santa Baby and Fairytale of New York by the Pogues and Kirsty McColl, while White Christmas remains irresistable.

Fairytale of New York by the Pogues and Kirsty McColl for sure each and every year is my favourite. Strangely I only know a few words of the song and get more carried away with humming the tune!
Am I the only person that cannot stand Slade and I wish it could be Christmas every day?
