    Historical recordings as MP3?

I just happend to find a download of
the first ever New Years Concert of 1941!
Surprised by the quality I made some test
with other recordings I have on CD!
The AAC codec actually reduces the noise-level
without reducing the Quality too much!
What do you think - and how do you feel - about
    classical music as MP3?

    Greetings, JoEdit

I personally prefer FLAC and APE to mp3, even though their compression is less powerful, you gain a lot in the audio quality field.

Three useful sites for downloading good-quality historical performances in MP3 format (and in FLAC, in the case of the second site):

    http://www.classicalmusicmobile.com/catalog/index.php

    http://www.pristineclassical.com/

    http://public-domain-archive.com/classic/?lang=eng

    Why, thank you.

Seeing as this forum is based in Denmark, I figured having a nationalised Danish composer (Kuhlau was, of course, originally German), is entirely appropriate.

I have a webpage where I post out of copyright lp's in 192 VBR mp3 (mono)

    http://docent.cmd.hro.nl/otter/

    On my "old" page:
    http://homepages.ipact.nl/~otterhouse/

there is still my fav all time LP's; Helene Boschi plays mozart 22nd PC

Temporary available: my transfer from a 1909 odeon 78rpm, Weber- Freischutz overture by the "l'Orchestre de l'Opera (PARIS)".

I'm afraid my avatar's a bit of a nob, or rather, an old ivory stop ...
