Hi Intet,
That worm is very dead because of its, as I stated before, 'marinating' in alcohol. Alchohol kills but it also is a preservative.
Back on topic: 20 degrees centigrade and partly cloudly with a 25 km/h northerly breeze.
Cheers,

Personally, if offered the worm in the bottle, or any worm, I would pass on it. Not really tempted to try it, whether it's considered tough to eat it or not aside.![]()
Although I love to eat shrimp, and that's a pretty weird looking creature as well...
Aw, thanks for your empathy, intet; don't worry, we're used to all the snow. It's just that this year there's been a lot more than in recent years. But within a month or so, it will all be melted anyway.I wouldn't be a true Canadian if I didn't rant about it though.
(And in four months, I'll be complaining about how hot it is...
)
Winter lasts about three or four months, give or take. Snow can make it's first appearance as early as end of Oct., or as late as mid-Dec.. It usually finishes up end of March, early April. But a lot depends on where in Canada one is. I'm just talking about where I am. Further into the Great White North, winter is much longer...
Yes, I remember reading about those mounds the Vikings left behind... in P.E.I., or was it Newfoundland... Anyway, I think they must have found it to be actual hell; they ended up leaving..
Have a great weekend as well, intet.
Snow's still coming down.............

Hello Ms. RoJo,
In certain parts of Southeast Asia bugs, maggots and other creepy, crawly things that makes ones own skin crawl are daily fare for the indigenous population. It is hard for us Westerners to comprehend that such things can be eaten. Hard to believe that those ghastly things we Westerners revolt at are excellent sources of protein. I remember eating some lightly fried bugs and maggots a few years back and the taste was that of walnuts, cashews, pistachios, macadamia nuts, hazelnuts, sunflower seeds and peanuts.
Cheers,

Were you eating those nasty slimy bugs and maggots after the second bootle of Tequila, on your first orditioning for the FEAR FACTOR TV program???Or were you just short of anything else looking like ordinary food???

Hi Intet,
When I last traveled in Southeast Asia to meet some friends and experience the wonders of that region on this Earth, I made sure of that I would sample what the locals eat. Surprisingly, it tasted very good once one could get past the initial feeling of the exoskeletons of the bugs. The maggots, well, I just needed to think of them as very tiny sausages and just popped them into the mouth, because if you only bit into them partially they would just explode and make a small mess on your shirt.
I'm sure that you know of the Survival courses that the Scandinavian Military offers to their troops. You learn to forage in the woods, among other things, and chow down on the humble little black forest ant. Now, there are those reddish brown ants in Sweden annd Denmark which squirt a small amount of acid when disturbed. Those you can't eat!!! It can be a major ordeal to forage but you'll learn about how the body reacts to such stresses.
Back on topic: Today was quite warm - 30 degrees centigrade and hardly any cloud formation.
Cheers,

As always dear sir Corno Dolce
I can only respect you for eating, what the locals in the far Southeast of Asia offered you, itīs called politness not a bahaviour uncommon to you, as it is.
However I imagine that my post on Glenn Miller on another thread did not make an inpact with you, mentioning the time close to 9 in the AM, signaling to you - I am having my ordinary Danish breakfast, two slices of white bread with French Brie cheese and ordinary Danish cheese followed by coffee.
Itīs still on the plate, where I left it, to read your detailed post on bugs and maggots including ants of various nationalities, the feeling of having something alive in you belly. Somehow my usual appetite has vanished like thin air.![]()

I endured a blizzard this past weekend. I had a good cry when I thought I
wasn't going to be able to make it to church and they were to have some
thing special. Sunday was cold but I made it by walking on the street instead of the sidewalk. It was past my ankles on the walkway.
Today it's beautiful and almost all of the snow has melted.

Yesterday, I brought my new umbrella to the shopping center - No rain of course.
Today, I didnīt bring the umbrella, and the heavens opened up for the reservoirs of water.
Sometimes though, remembering Iīm not a violent guy. However, I do suspect the Danish weather forecast people being bored for having sarcastic
fun with the rest of us at their own convienence: Clouds but no rain to the northern Jutland (where I live) they anticipated this morning. I was soaked, when returning for the shopping center.
No wonder, one has to pass security eqauls Check Point Charly to get into their officesī.
Best regards,

Today is beautiful but a little cold.

Why donīt you take the service to the open air, then you can play golf while the priest does his sermon, and be back behind the pipes when singing. 75 F, why does it not surpice me dear sir?
I believe the weather people in generel throughout the world belong to the same union as the dentists in generel. They both seem to have a sarcastic sadistic gene from birth. We plan our holidays in January according to the weather forecast for July in Denmark. If it is good, weīll plan stay at home and if it looks to be bad for July, we go abroad and pay heavyly. However when the opposite happens, and weīre abroad on some crowder beach in Spain or Italy and the danes have the hottest summer in decades, then we curse the wether poeple. Like with the dentists. We have to suffer while in the "hot chair", helpless fearing the worst torturing physical agony and afterwards they demand cash money for the scrutinating pain. Weird sadistic occupation.
Today almost a clear blue sky, all the birds are singing, with next to no winds and the SUN (not the English Paper) but the round yellow thing in the sky is up and blessing all the Danes at 08:40 local danish time. The temperature just below 58 F.
The first yellow tulips has broken the surface of the ground in my garden and there are some purple ones too. Let me please stipulate, I am not a psychedelic ill person, like some one here at the MIMF seeing colours that ainīt there, when smoking some bad local iligit tobacco.![]()
It is supposed to be suneshine and 68 degrees. Probably in the seventies
today. I like to burned up yesturday. I'm used to wearing this heavy
jacket and that was a big mistake. I had to stop put down my guitar and
take that jacket off. By the time I walked to the church for my class,
I was sweating instead of freezing.I'm glad it's warming up.

On this monday at 10:40 AM sunny all over with a few white clouds and a cold wind to remind us, that we do not decide for the Danish weather. The temperature has decreased since yesterday to 36 F at the same time of the day.
