Ok ... I'll bite ... what exactly is a 'loop pedal?' From the video, it appears that the performer plays a musical chordal progression, and somehow records it (digitally?) then it seems to repeat over and over again allowing the artist to "voice over" with other melodies? Have I got the right grasp on this new (to me) techno device?

K: John uses a Boss RC-20 Loop Station, see link below. Your description of how it works is about right. In a live performance, John typically lays down a rhythm track a few bars long, then loops it while playing a melody over it. He usually goes through several different looping tracks during the course of a 3 to 7 minute piece. His studio pieces, of course, have more variety with lots of electronica-influenced effects via Ableton Live software. - CW
