How do you guys feel about Evanescence? There are not alot of female fronted bands out there and i feel as if Amy Lee has paved the way for alot of other female front ladies. Amy's vocal range is amazing and they write music form their heart. How do you guys feel about them? Please don't tell me i am the only fan here.
I liked the singles from their album Fallen, but the singles from their last album have not live up to my expectations. But I must agree that she has a good voice. About she being one of the few female front figures we see at the moment, I really don't care. I think we are beyond that stage where we just have to praise every girl who becomes someone important.

Amy Lee has a fantastic voice which I have been fortunate enough to hear live - I attended a concert in Sheffield when they were on tour following the release of their Fallen album. Powerful with an excellent range - somewhat unique to my ear, though I'm sure there are others out there that can leave you lost for words
I liked their Fallen album best, though their last release wasn't a bad album - not as good, but far from poor. Some of their earlier material is worth a listen, though I thought it was a bit more "hit and miss" whilst they were still experimenting with their sound a little.
Their music also appeals to a lot of people you might not expect - a couple of avid classical fans I know absolutely love Evanescence - I wouldn't have put the two together personally, but there must be something there!
Amy lee is definitely talented, but the rest of the band has changed. Ben Moody, the original guitarist left the band when he and Amy Lee split up (apparently he'd been beating her or something but I don't know about that) and although the new guitarist is good,1) the parts are a bit repetative on the open door and 2) His wife went into labour the day I was going to see them in Manchester, the gig was cancelled, and now I hate him forever lol.
Kaizen, you beat me to it. I was just coming here to start a thread about them. Cobalt, I understand why avid classical fans would love them. I remember the first time I heard one of their songs the first thing I thought was 'ok, here's a rock band with a lead singer who sounds like she could have been an opera singer'. Well, ok maybe not an amazing opera singer, but her voice does have a classical/operatic value to it. It's unique, and it's really unlike anything mainstream out there today. Whille it's hard to tell the Britney Spears pop girls apart Amy Lee is instantlly recognizable.

Also, from what I've heard, Amy Lee and Ben Moody have known each other since they were teenagers. I hadn't heard that he'd been beating her, but if he was good for her for leaving. I had heard however that she broke up with the lead singer from Seether because he wouldn't seek help for alcoholism. Apparently, he did go to rehab though. Also, the guy who replaced Ben Moody had a stroke while they were recording this new album. I'm sure you guys think I'm obsessed, but I honestly found all that out from a 5 minute clip on an entertainment show.

For instance whilst watching an evanescence music video on you tube the comments compared amy lee to christina scabbia or lacuna coil. Wanting to see if this comparison was true i went and looked up some of Lacuna Coil's work. Needless to say they are now one of my favorite bands. If i had never known about ev, i would never know about lacuna coil ... get the picture now?
