Comparsion of Beethoven and Coltrane
Hi - I'm new to this site, and I'm not sure if this is the best place to ask this, but I'm writing a fairly extensive paper relating Beethoven and John Coltrane, specifically I want to compare Beethoven's Sonata no 29 op. 106 "Hammerklavier" and A Love Supreme. Does anyone have any ideas on what direction to take this. Would it be safe to argue that both Beethoven and Coltrane were at the same point of pushing the limits of their respective works, with Beethoven's stretching what is defined as a sonata and Coltrane recreating the modern idea of Jazz?
Any ideas would be greatly apreciated.
