Ola! Como esta, tudo bem? Bemvindo!

I can't say I care much for the Brazilian pop I've heard, but then I've only heard the cheap teeny-bopper stuff that makes it into English supermarkets and African taxis (seems like every other word is "Meu coracao"--sorry, no diacritical marks on my keyboard--usually accompanied by some sort of moan).

I'd be interested to know what sort of music is popular within Brazil.

Hi Sarah :)

I can`t read you username without singing the tune..

Brazilian music; makes me think samba and bossa nova. Latin american- salsa and the word 'corazon' come to mind.

Anyway, have fun here!

I am a pianissimo too. I listened to Brazilian music years ago when I was in Germany. Our Kontakt coordinator (German American club is another name for Kontakt) was Brazilian, so I got into some local famous music like Milton Nascimento and some other stuff, I can't remember it all.

Dear all,

Thanks very much for your replies!

Zlya: when I say brazilian POP, I'm not referring to the brazilian version of Backstreet Boys. I mean artists like Marisa Monte. She's classified as POP music... what can I do?

Krummhorn: I hope I can introduce you to some good stuff.

rojo: You're right! Brazilian music is samba and Bossa Nova. Let's not forget Argentinean Tango. I love Tango, especially eletronic Tango.

janny108: Other well known artists would be Caetano Veloso, Gilberto Gil, Tom Jobim (remember Garota de Ipanema?)

Frederik Magle: Thanks!!
