I have heard Dvorak's 6th symphony and to be honest it made me sleepy.
Big time. I like his music too.

I was never a huge fan of Nutcracker, either, until I heard Gergiev's. He really brings out the intensely colorful musicality of the work that goes unseen in the sickly-sweet westernized traditional interpretation.
Well recorded, too.
What particularly did you enjoy about Gergiev's Nutcracker?

Tchaikovsky is wonderful ... I love his Manfred Symphony and his 12 piano pieces, the Seasons ...
I think perhaps the crisp pace is one of the things I like most about it. His interpretation is conceptually clear and is very revealing of the intent of the music, with less focus on the frilliness and a bit more of a serious/mature tone. There is a visceral profundity to the music that I've not found elsewhere. Sure, no one could dance easily to it, but this was intended as a more symphonic iteration.
I'm also a fan of Norrington's Beethoven, if that gives you an idea of my tastes...
