Hi. I'm looking for 2 things regarding music. If you know only one, that'll help too.

1. Are there any websites that have midi files of popular songs and artists for download?

2. Are there any websites or books that displays just the key and chord progressions of popular songs and artists (such as I-V-vi-IV.....)? I'm not looking for sheet music or musical scores (no measures, bars, staffs). I'm looking for just chord progressions.

Thanks.

Hey Brian....

I have been using opuzz.com, they have been a great resource for me personally. Royalty free, buy once and use forever. Its all in wav and mp3 but that shouldn't be a big problem.

have fun.

Hi Brian,

Could you be a little more specific in what era of "popular" songs you are seeking? What is popular to me may not be to another.

midi files

I have about ten or less midi files on my computer. Believe me some of
them sound fake. If you are like me and used to listening to the real
thing, I'll say take beethoven's 5th for example. I'm used to hearing it
from the orchestras to the disco version from Saturday Night Fever.
But the midi version sounds a little artificual to me. Some of them
sound pretty good. I know of one websight and it has gospel music
in midi. When you go to Msn.com look up gospel music or any kind
of music you like on the web and you will find it by looking. Does that
help any? Trust me.

Well it is pretty easy to find MIDI files on the web. The easiest way is probably to use google and write the name of the track you are searching for followed by "MIDI" (for example "Mussorgsky - Pictures at an Exhibition MIDI"). This is the method I primarily use when I am looking for a MIDI file.

Regarding your second question I believe you will find it easy to search Google as well. You should search on "chords" or, maybe even better, on "tabs".
