New Piece (Epic Theme)

Hey Everyone!
This is my first post on here, so bear with me. I am 16 years old, and it is my dream career to score for films. Some of my main influences are John Williams, Hans Zimmer, Danny Elfman and James Newton Howard. Anyways, this is a new piece I have written, entitled "Epic Theme." It is intended to be a medley of themes displayed throughout the course of a battle.

Hi Johnwilliamsfan,

I really like this composition, it contains alot of energy and I think the various movements are very well and smartly connected. It does indeed share many similarities with music of James Newton-Howard, I especially noted the systematic 2-3 melodic patterns where there constantly is a background pizzicato string melody. This is not an easy melodic system to manage but you do it very well!

The music does not sound like that of a 16-year old - very good work, you seem to have talent within this type of music! :)

I have only limited negative criticism to offer you:
* The rythm of the melody is very static and "on beat" - this make it seem a bit too structured. The slow movements could be even slower to mark the emotional contrast of the music/film scene.

* The drum hit at 0:56 and 0:58 seems a bit malplaced and the samples are a bit "hollow" if you know what I mean? It does not seem to fit in that passage of the work (a matter of personal taste, of course).

Hope you can use the feedback :)
Keep up the good work friend.

Thank you so much for the review! I really appreiciate the fact that you took the time to listen to and critique my piece. As a HUGE fan of James Newton Howard, it is an honor to know that my piece shares some of his structure and sound. As for the drums on 56 and 58, I do agree with you, perhaps I should have thought through that portion of the piece better.
Once again, thank you so very much.
Have a great day!
Jared
