    an original idea -

I often like short, easy to play vignettes that one can just grab and slot into a "preganant pause" moment (in a service for example), or simply as some delicious music to play during communion.

My idea ... all of those out there who love to improvise, why not take some time to jot down your ideas and submit. I'll happily compile (Sibelius/Finale) and create an Organ Forum anthology called (to be decided by popular vote) "Magle Forum Vignettes".

Ideally, each piece should be short (no more than two pages) and easy enough for an intermediate level organist to play. Pedals, of coures are just fine though manuals only is great, too.

Let me know what you think?

I think it's a great idea. I often just take a tune from the theme of the service where something has come to mind and 'doodle' with it for that minute or so in keeping with the moment. Hardly what you'd call a sufficiently rounded piece worthy of publication, and instantly forgotten once past. Might be a good idea to jot some stuff down in practice sessions and work in some structure.

NEB, hence my term vignette, like a buttercup: blooms quickly, brings momentary pleasure and then fades away, forgotten.

This can be a terrific ongoing project, Contratrombone64. What format would you like these to be in that would be the easiest to transcribe into Sibelius or Finale?

All my stuff is in Noteworthy as it does ok for my needs. I think I can export as 'midi' ... dunno ... have to check into that.

Goodness - that's all a bit up to date. Anything I jot down is usually scribbled on a hastily concocted staff of the back of an envelope or any other scrap of paper that comes readily to hand!...

The easiest format for me to deal with, without fuss, is JPG (JPEG if you use a Mac). JPG can be obtained from just about any program as an export or save as feature.

    Please issue as JPG format.

    thanks
