Please; help with identifying a piece.

Please please can anyone tell me what this is:

http://www.soundclick.com/bands/pagemusic.cfm?bandID=146098 (scroll to bottom & play “puppet” mp3…if you’ve got time)

Sorry this is all I can remember. I heard it once & once only on a TV program over 40 yrs ago, never heard it since. It’s been in my heart for all these years but after many attempts at finding out I still do not know. If someone knows then that wonderful person will go to the top of lottery winnings list.

Thank you very much for your time.

    Dej.

It could sound like many things if you haven’t heard it before but if you know the piece it’s job done… What’s the name of the piece? This is the question I’m asking. You either know it (which is the important bit) or you don’t! We could go on forever with: “who does it sound like”!!! Anyways, thanks for taking the time to listen, I appreciate that

    Hi dejarma,

Often times, conjecture is part of the manner in which we, as a community, help to solve questions such as this one. When someone else offers a little bit of information to the puzzle, often times that might jog someone else's memory and produce more results, and eventually the solution.

As the title of your thread reads in part "please help ... " and not "reply only if you know ... " members here are trying their best to assist. It is going to take a little time to identify this piece from the sample given.

    Respectfully,
    Krummhorn - Senior Regulator,

Hello Krumm......Yes, of course you are right! Sorry Judy…. Just having a laugh but on reading it back I guess it didn’t come out as intended & sounded unappreciative. Please except my apologies & thank you all for the time you’ve taken to post a reply.

I’m quite sure the melody is correct although the phrasing maybe slightly out! I’ve been trying to find the name of this piece for 40 yrs with no luck at all! I’ve played it, hummed it to people over the years but no one knows the piece….. I guess it could be a one off written for the particular TV footage & not taken from a known arrangement? If so then I guess it’s not surprising no one has heard it before!

The problem is; the piece in question is from a puppet act on a UK variety show back in the mid sixties. I’ve contacted all relevant parties involved for info, TV company etc. I’ve even after many hours of searching on Google found & contacted the puppet act: http://andre-tahon.blogspot.com/2007/02/few-dates.html (well I think it’s this one) but have had no luck at all! Oh well, sorry to bore you with this. Maybe in time I’ll find out.

    Thanks again.

    Hi Dej,

Apologies accepted ... I'm continuing in my searches for this little tune ... I confess that I don't recognize it yet, but will keep playing it from time to time ... Hopefully other people here will chime in to help the cause.

Krummhorn I understand Dejarma's frustration. He probably didn't mean
to take it out on me. I know how it's like to try to find a certain song or
piece that plays in your head. I did that once with a church hymn.
I knew the church hymn and title but couldn't find one solitary book that
had the song in it. It was the hymn "Lead me gently home" and I still
can't find it. It's not in the Methodist hymnbook!

I’m baffled! 1379 song streams/ 624 downloads & still no body knows this piece! Is the piece I recorded (with regards to how I remember it) wrong? I believe that the piece in the link is exactly how I remember it. Maybe I’m wrong! Have I subconsciously created something new & this is why nobody recognizes it?
