I wonder what everybody's favorite candy or food is? Mine is chocolate
and favorite food is country like cooking and some of these special
flavored coffees. Which one do you like?

No candy thanks, but love most foods (nothing raw or so spiced up that it takes the enamel of your teath).

jvhldb, that can't be easy in South Africa. The diet – okay, the Afrikanner diet – is incredibly sweet. And of course there's a wonderful tradition of spiced foods in the Cape. :)

I like real chocolate – something around 70% cocoa solids, for instance (or higher). Not particularly sweet. We have a couple of high street good chocoletiers in the UK – Thorntons isn't bad, but the relative newcomer, Hotel Chocolat, is excellent. I've just tried some single estate chcolate from them, from Madagascar. Very, very good indeed.

And there's probably not much that's better than sitting at a café on the Continent, sipping a really strong expresso and nibbling a small bit of 80% chocolate. An incredible hit – and all legal. ;) I'm already looking forward to Paris at the end of the month.

Humm! That sounds delicious! Espresso with chocolate. I have an
espresso maker I will try that someday. I like regular coffee mixed
with powdered cocoa mix to make a hot jamocha. I love it along with
a big piece of coffee cake with lots of glaze on tip. Yum! Thanks
Sybarite for the idea. Thanks everyone else. Just keep giving me
some ideas on your favorite foods. Some of your ideas are to die
for!:p

Saltwater taffy.

I'm sure that if I had one piece at the start of every day, my life would be perfect.

There is such a thing as soft candy and some raw things are
delicious like fruit and some veggies. I like bananas because they
are soft and sweet and you can eat them raw! Chocolate I don't
chew or bite. I let it desolve and melt in my mouth.:p Humm!

Choooocolaaaate!

Especially dark chocolate, the more cocoa the better. Actually, I'd probably eat any chocolate. Except the really lousy cheap stuff. And I don't really like any other candy all that much, maybe a caramel now and then.

I'm a huge dessert fan. I love cake of any kind, pecan pie, coconut cream pie, many pastries....

Hi Rojo,

Funny you mention dark chocolate ... I alot myself one square of this every night - it's one form of chocolate that is relatively safe for diabetics like myself. I like to call it the "healthy chocolate" ... ... if there is such a thing.

Hello Ms. RoJo,

Isn't there a really fine *Chocolatier* near McGill University? I have this faint recollection that there is one near there. At least when I was there a few years ago.

Cheers,

Corno Dolce

Kh- Kudos to you for being able to eat just one square; I'd never be able to stop at just one... but then I'm a 'gourmande' when it comes to chocolate.

CD- Could be; when I went to school there I was too poor to buy any, so I wouldn't remember! :p Still am.

Montreal actually has many fine chocolate establishments. Maybe I'll splurge over the holidays. :)

You are not the only guys who like chocolate. I like chocolate in all of
my desserts and certain dishes. I will put chocolate in my coffee and
oatmeal! Now you are probably saying "Oh gees!" by now. I also go
around and about my house and even church with a cup of coffee;
not during church service!

No one else here likes saltwater taffy?

Hey, pnoom;

I used to eat tons of it when I was younger. We would stroll along the boardwalk along the bay ... there were several shops that "pulled" their own taffy and you could watch the process. Now, later in life, certain dental 'modifications' prevent me from chewing the really sticky-gooey stuff.

I know how that is. I'm missing two teeth all ready on the front side
and some foods give me such a toothache if it is too hot or cold and
sencadine toothpaste won't do the trick like it used to. If it isn't my
teeth, certain foods do a real number on my stomach encluding sweets.
Even though that doesn't keep me from enjoying what I eat wether it
is sweet or savory.

saltwater taffy sounds positively disgusting, but then again I ate "Cat's Tongues" once (Dutch) and thought they were pretty awful.
