Re reading DRIVING OVER LEMONS by Chris Stewart. The original drummer from Genesis who left after they cut their first album, buys a run down farm in Andalusia. First of three bocks, similar to A YEAR IN PROVENCE.

The Ipcress File - The first of the books by Len Deighton and a runaway success. A good solid spy story. Shame they made it into a jokey film rather than taking it seriously but unfortunately the series The Avengers was all the rage at the time and everybody wanted to emulate it. They did the same with Modesty Blaise

XPD Len Deighton again. A drama based around WW2 documents implicating Churchill which both the British Government and a coalition of German bankers wish to suppress. I think the idea came from The Hitler Diaries, Cracking read, as they used to say.
(XPD stands for expedient demise which gives a clue as to the nature of the book).

CHRISTINE by Stephen King, the master of horror. A demonic car goes on the rampage. Sounds naff, but, like all his books well writen and a very good plot.

If memory serves, I seem to remember that the movie was pretty decent as well.

Down and Out in Paris and London George Orwell
A fascinating book detailing his early years and much accounted for in his diaries

George Orwell is one of the greatest writers who ever set pen to paper. Both he and Jack London remain amongst my favorite authors with their realistic and gritty styles.

Have you read Orwells diaries Steve. A great insight into both the man and his books.

Sad to say, I haven't yet read these, but I intend to rectify that in the very near future with one of my periodic "pilgrimages" to my local public library. I have definitely heard of them, though. Thanks for the recommendation, and Happy New Year to you and yours!

Cell by Stephen King

Computers can exchange viruses. Cell phones can exchange viruses. What would happen if cell phones could exchange viruses with humans? A truly frightening thought. Makes you never want to pick one up again.
