    Ultra-Symphonic Organ...

    Hello Ladies and Gents,

Just a little info on two somewhat recent recordings done by Ian Tracey on the Willis masterpiece at Liverpool Anglican Cathedral:

I just ordered them myself. If you crave a spectacular instrument played by a spectacular organist in spectacular acoustics then these will give you your money's worth and then some.

    Cheers,

    Corno Dolce

Corno - I own a couple of Liverpool Cathedral (Anglican) organ CDs. It's an instrument of breathtaking power. I'd love to hear it live one day. Thanks for the tip off on that website.

    Cool Beans, Corno Dolce ...

Thanks for the links ... the only other recording I have of Liverpool is on LP - Noel Rawsthorne - recorded many many moons ago. When we get to England in a few years, that is definitely on my list of 'places to go' ... and of course, St. Pauls in London, too.

    Hi CT64,

You bet! When I first heard Maestro Tracey in 1985 playing Vierne's 6th, Messiaen's L'Ascension, Bach's Passacaglia & Fugue and Reger's Symphonic Fantasy and Fugue Op.57 - man, I nearly died and went to heaven. I am crazy about the Willis machine in Liverpool - its in my top three favorite instruments category (Wanamaker, Cavaille-Coll In St. Sulpice, Willis In Liverpool).

    Cheers,

    Corno Dolce

Corno - if you ever get to Sydney - I'd love you to hear the Town Hall monster. You might put it on your list, too!?

    Hi CT64,

I visited Sydney a few years back and got to hear the lovely machine in the Town Hall. I somewhat recently visited Melbourne Town Hall and heard that stunning gem in there.

    Cheers,
