Smileys People A two disc marathon over two days. I may now re read both books. Both the films and the books were brilliant and so close that I can read them again with pleasure. The same can not be said for The Spy That Came in From The Cold. Loved the book, but Burton spoilt the film for me. (if you have not read it Steve Smiley has a cameo part).

A Dangerous Method, starring Keira Knightley, Viggo Mortensen and Michael Fassbender. Depicts the rivalry which eventually developed between Carl Jung and Sigmund Freud {former allies and associates} and the catalyst type of role played in this by one of Jung's former patients, who goes on to become the first female psychoanalyst. Seen on Netflix.

Parts 1 and 2 of Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, starring the great Alec Guinness, Bernard Hepton, Ian Bannen and Ian Richardson. This disc also includes a very interesting interview with John le Carre; now I shall have to read all three books comprising the Smiley/Karla Trilogy!

Absolutely , Teddy. I just wish I could get my hands on a reasonably priced hardcover edition of all three novels, rather than having to buy three individual paperbacks!

Yes, Teddy, I did indeed try Amazon and Barnes and Noble; neither are selling the hardcover edition, which has all three novels in one book. The only way to acquire it is through private sellers, who, unfortunately for me, want far too much money for it, IMHO.

Watched Episodes 3 and 4 this afternoon of Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy {via Netflix}. As always with this ensemble, superb acting and storyline throughout. Patrick Stewart is really something as the Karla who doesn't say a word to a young George Smiley while incarcerated in an Indian prison, but is sure to take Smiley's fags and the gift lighter inscribed and given to him by his wife, Anne. Just one of many great scenes in this wonderful movie!

Final episodes of Tinker Tailor. Great performances by both Ian Richardson {"Bloody" Bill Haydon} and Ian Bannen {Jim Prideaux} really stood out for me.
