Is the Art of Fugue not the greatest organ piece ever created. It's sheer magnitude and beauty, its complexity is utterly breathtaking, I cannot find another piece as poignant as the Art of Fugue

Well, I would like to hear this piece. I'm kinda new with Bach,Beethoven,
and mozart.

Well, it's not entirely certain what it was intended to be played upon (obviously a keyboard instrument of some description). The score is (mostly) in four staves with C clefs for the soprano, alto, tenor and F clef for the bass.
But yes, I agree, it's a work of incredible depth and insight. I own several versions, my favourite is Helmut Walch played on the organ.
oh yes thats right, but I believe it is most commonly played on the organ, I guess that doesn't necessarily make it the correct instrument to play it on, but still a one hit wonder for that instrument! =) I will look up Helmut Walch, seems interesting
Indeed, Helmut Walcha's perfomance of Die Kunst der Fuge is absolutely perfect.
I have this on the DGG label (vinyl) ... impeccable recordings.

Krummiest - that Walcha (fortunately) has be re-released in a delightful CD boxed set ... it's one of my treasured "things".
Hi Contratrombone64,
That's great to learn ... nice to see such great masters like Walcha being re-released so that many more people can enjoy his talent and the great organ music.
