johnny dankworth seven and orchestra featuring cleo laine 1953-58-- emi. this one takes me back, i was just a kid when these came out. a lot of famous british musicians from that time, plus a bonus it contains experiments with mice and the big jazz story. gord

Hi Teddy. I am so happy that you have found and like Wayne Shorter! For me, he is not only a very very talented musician, but an awesome composer as well. Enjoy.

Gord, absolutely spot on re: Horace Silver. You should also check out some his earlier work with Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers, which he also led--or co-led--for awhile. I've been listening to Roots and Herbs by Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers and Miles Smiles by the Miles Davis Quintet. Both are simply awesome!

Today I listened to the rest of Roots and Herbs by Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers. Also disc 2 from The Dave Brubeck Quartet at Carnegie Hall.

teddy, june christy-something cool, i have that cd, it contains both the mono and stereo versions. i always thought they were the same, but apparently they are differant. the mono was recorded in 1955, and the stereo recorded in1960 witha slightly different personnel. by the way both albums are great. gord

I treated myself to Kind of Blue today. I'm working on So What and who'd know better how to play comping than Bill Evans.
