Dear Intet,

The phraseology I used with flattery is but a quite common euphemism "over here". What are you doing still feeding a lawyer thousands of Danish kroner? Or maybe this is an inside joke, eh?

I received an email from a Norwegian acquaintance in which she said: "Maybe Sir Alfred Nobel felt sorry for the Norwegians and that he wanted to provide some limelight which they could then bask in".

Maybe this was her critique of Norway's leftist propaganda and the leftists who overpopulate the selection committee for the Peace Prize.

I couldn´t agree more with you around the Nobel Peace Prize in particular the Commitee behind it.

About flattery , I know dear sir you have this euphemism over the pond. I laughed out loud behind my PC, when I read your post "Flattery will get you everywhere" . The fun part is that the euphemism often is the contradiction: "Flattery won´t get you anywhere" in my country.

Thanks for the PM. Sometimes when I read your funny posts, I think to myself, this guy most have had personal experiences from Denmark. Of course you have, since you have lived just across Øresund in Sweden. You got it Sir, right on the money.

About the danish Police in generel. Mostly cool calm guys in public office, very polite and friendly most of them. Tough work though, because the entire police force on a national basis are understaffed, which mean for instance, when President George W. Bush from the USA (should you not know ?) had his birthday here in Copenhagen a couple of years ago, the security had been tightend. Almost at the same time there were huge violent demonstrations on Nørrebro a surburbond to Copenhagen (where there are less than 1 mill. citizens), where violent hooligans from the most of Europe came to Denmark to fight against the police to support the demonstrators wearing hoods, so they are not easily recognized. This means that such two great events, where policemen from all over Denmark travel to Copenhagen to keep things secure and reasonable quiet, remove the local police from other ordinary jobs. Like investigating robberies, assaults, drugs traficing, missing persons, being drunk on the streets, murder investigations etc.etc.

The rules say for the police that working more than the usual hours for policemen, can not be payed in extra salery. They have to be compromised staying away from the work, not being replaced by other policemen. Sort of sparetime for or holidays for criminals to increase criminal affairs. But all in all they seem to manage anyhow, and I don´t think the crime rate moves much to either side in a year.

I know if you give a police officer the "finger" straight up in the air, flattery won´t get you anywhere . Irony or rather sarcasm among the danes often used on a daily basis, to keep healthy and with a sound mind. For instance against the danish IRS, whom I have given all my fingers repeatedly for the past 4 years, but then you know why?.

I remember having a recording of stan Getz a number of years back, doing 'Desafinado' and there was a Girl who sang it in portugese. That album had the same girl singing girl from ipanema as well, and it was a sheer joy.

I can't find the album, can't remember what it is called and can't remember the name of the very talented lady who sang so beautifully on it. (shame on me for being so lax)

I'd love to find it again...

The brazilian multi instrumentalist Egberto Gismonti (8 string acoustic guitar, piano, indian flutes, percussion, voice) and Nana Vasconcelos (berimbau, corpo, voice, percussion) on the album "Danca Das Cabecas" ECM Records 1977 play the music of the jungle with hundreds of thousands of different birds, monkeys, the jaguar, reptiles, red ants etc.etc. Beautiful album.

Hi Mat, how´s ya been dude?

Nice choice with Joey DeFrancesco (organ, trumpet). I don´t have any albums with him in his own name, but I do have him on the stage live at the Montreux Jazz Festival 1995, Warner Bros. Schwitzerland 2000 playing in the former trio The Free Spirits feat. John Mclaughlin (guitars), Joey Defrancesco (organ, trumpet) and Dennis Chambers (drums).

Does it still rain in Poland, like it has done throughout the entire month of January in Denmark? Someone here has not behaved good, since we´re being punished by the reservoirs of the heavens on a full scale.
