Yes, I love it a lot. Their traditional music is great - its the best to dance to. I was very surprised when I heard Nino Katamadze, cause just the thought of that traditional music and jazz didnt go together - but she is really great. I wanted to post a clip or something, but there is not that much stuff of hers on YouTube. If you want to check her out, Ill send you the link.

It ought to say "What jazz have you been listening to and watched on your telly today".

Found myself all awake at 4 A.M. Turned on the coffee machine in the kitchen and the telly, and there it was: WEATHER REPORT Live at the Montreux Jazz Festival 1976, from the french TV music channel MEZZO.

What an awesome way to awake on a tuesday morning in late January 2008. Weather Report performed the album HEAVY WEATHER, with some innovative improvisations over the music on the recorded album. Jaco Pastorius on his fretless el. bass, Alejandro Acuna on drums, and the magician Manolo Badrena on everything possibly used for percussion - what an arsenal of percussion instruments . Of course the two prime musicians, the leaders of this famous jazz group Wayne Shorter on tenor and soprano saxophones and the austrian/american Josef Zawinul on piano, keyboards, synthezisers etc.etc.

Incredible on a winters morning in Denmark . Now guys, who can beat this?

Joe Zawinul (piano, keyboards, Oberheim syntheziser, percussion), Wayne Shorter (tenor and soprano saxophone), Jaco Pastorius (el. fretless bass, timpani, drums), Peter Erskine/Tony Williams/Steve Gadd (drums), Manolo Badrena (congas, perc., solo voice) and Jon Lucien/Denise Williams/Maurice White (vocals).

The one WR album, where Zawinul and Shorter can´t really figure out which drummer to use for the next album.

To tell you the truth, Intet, I'm the only one in my whole family who play an instrument. According to my folks it was my idea for me to go to a music school. Apparently I saw an announcement in kindergarten when I was a kid. That's how it all started. At least that's what they say. It was long ago and I don't remember correctly. I think I'm the only one in my family who really is into music (both playing and listening).

Seriously. I just thought it´s incredible for one guy to play so many different instruments. I guess if you play the piano in jazz it would be likely to also play other keyboards or synthezisers. But you cover a wide range of instruments like the cello (a string instrument), clarinet/oboe/soon soprano saxophone (blowing instruments), piano and soon the Hammond B3 organ.

Mat, you must have been touched and blessed from the abowe regarding music - also called highly gifted. I can only send you my sincere respect.

Why can you not play he Hammond B3 organ, where you live then?

Well, that is not exactly true. I've played so many instruments only because of that I was looking for the right one. Pipe organ is only an episode (I play only for pleasure; autodidact) so was the cello (few unsuccesful years). I ended my piano education one year ago and now I play only for pleasure.

And I can't play Hammond B3 or any other model because it is simply unavailable where I live (I'm sure instruments themself do exist but I do not have access to them).

However, thank you for all kind words I heard from you. I appreciate it.

Okay, so you mean the Hammond B3 organ can not be purchased/achieved with money or any thing else, because it does not exist in the city where you live or near by? Right, but as Mick Jagger once sang: You can´t always get what you want.

No problem Mat, I´ll have to make sure with the local organizers, whether you chose N.Y.C. or London when you will perform in January 09, perhaps while we´re in Andalucia at Jazzdrummer´s place, there must be a Hammond B3 organ. 2. Wish - a real genuine pipe organ. Of course saxophones, the oboe, the clarinet, the piano, the cello, let´s throw in a couple of el. 4 and 8 string cellos while we´re at it. No problem buddy.

Well, it´s good of you dear friend to tell me these small issues ahead of time and please along. I´ll check with my people around Europe.

I believe, you can play on any instrument whatsoever, when you decide for it. That´s quite a portion of talents. I feel proud to know you.

That´s the thing, when you are born without any musical talent like me, then one being addicted to music have to take use of the second best. Enjoy people who can play, and to let them know.

Mat, I take my comb anytime, where I do have some practice. I could extend it a bit with a peace of thin paper. Perhaps after a few glasses of that delicious cold spanish beer in the breeze of the cool spanish night after the barbeque, I might go solo for opera, some Puccini, I would imagine. That´ll do .

That´s why some of us were born to serve others, humbly unselfish nurcing - like a manager. I realy think this would be the best job for me. Wait until you have studied my program for the training camp on another thread .

Okay, okay give me a huge drumset with cymbals and in addition congas, then I´ll play "Soul Sacrifice", like Michael Shrive from Santana with you - self taught on air drums .

Michel Petrucciani passed away two years ago, I believe. Figures Mat. I knew you would come up with the late Michel Petrucciani (piano) sooner or later, who lived with a physical disability his entire life, but geez man could the guy play piano?

So I´ll return to you Michel´s "Marvelous", Dreyfus Music 1994 feat. MP (piano), Dave Holland (double bass) and Tony Williams (drums) and The Graffiti String Orchestra and Big band.
