    Nicholson Organs

    Hello,

Does anyone else play a Nicholson organ here?, I found the organ I play on listed on the National Organ Register (pm me if you want the link).

It was built Circa 1800, and next year, it will have been in it's current location for 110 years.

I suggested a small concert to celebrate that anniversary and so far people think it's a good idea.

Looks like it's time to do some serious playing!!!!!

I've played an antique little parlor organ made by Nicholson. This little
pump organ was the size of an upright console piano. It was cute.

    G'day CT here's the link: http://npor.emma.cam.ac.uk/

Judy - that sounds like a nice organ you played. The most basic organ I can remember using had two pedals I had to pump to generate a sound.
    That was in confirmation classes!

This morning, just as I sat down for practice at the organ the power went off (load shedding time again) so I decided to practice on the pump organ in the voyer. After two hymns I decided I'll rather join the gym than try the pump organ again, if you knew me you'll know that I'm totally against any form of excercise.

Went to a museum over the weekend and found they had some Piano's there. All very interesting, but at the end of the row was one of these pump organs - shame you weren't allowed to play it, but seeing one again was still good.
