And voters of the other option please state which cellist you have in mind.
Harvey Wolfe (retired cellist, Cleveland Symphony)
Although not an international touring artist, he can certainly keep up with the best of the best. I've seen him perform several times locally with his group.

Amateur musicians practice until they get it right ...
Professional musicians practice until they can't get it wrong ...
Slava Rostropovich gets my vote.![]()
I think there are two cellist in the group Electric Light Orchestra that I
like. It does seem a little odd that cellist would show up in a rock n roll
band but these guys were extraordinary.

I myself have not decided yet each and every single one of these cellists have good reasons why they should be the one.
Can't decide either.
Yoyo Ma is pretty good too...
''Music, I feel, should be emotional first and intellectual second.'' - Maurice Ravel
''The greatest education in the world is watching the masters at work.'' - Michael Jackson
Favorite and best are very different categories. Sometimes they might overlap, but not necessarily. So I'll only respond to the first: Jeffrey Krieger.
Though most important would have to be Charlotte Moorman, of course!

My vote is for Janos Starker. But to the list above, I add:
Leonard Rose
Emanuel Feuermann
Maurice Gendron
Maurice Marechall
Daniil Shafran
Sviatoslav Knushevitsky
none listed I'm afraid ...
