Bach Edition: Complete Works (155 CD Box Set)

I've just ordered this packet. Do you know it? How do you rate it?

philcan - I own this and love it. The cantatas, whilst not as brilliant as Elliot Gardener or the like, are fine performances and use "authentic" instrument ensembles. It's a monster, for sure and sits on my bookcase. I've now listened to all the cantatas and that was no mean feat ... mind you I did skip the recitatives (they are boring personally). I like the organ works (Hans Fagius). It's a treasure trove!!

If one has never heard Bach but want to make an investment in that Complete set, you do no wrong in getting it.

I have Magle's Toccata & fugue and I love it! Mr. Magle if you or Corno
is in, would you happen to have "Easter Oratorio,BWV 249"? I have it
on cassette but it's not going to help me get it on my computer.

    Hi philcan,

I do not own that 155 CD set of JSBach's music. I have only heard some cantatas, organ works and other diverse selections from it. Therefore I have a favorable impression of it. Here's my copy of the Lute Suites:

    Cheers,

    Corno Dolce

    Hi Ms. Judy,

Type into the Google search field "Easter Oratorio", then just click and pick.

    Cheers,

funny you should ask who is playing the Lute suites because I listened to them not that long ago, I can't remember the artist and have left my iPod at home (I downloaded the complete thing onto my iPod, took ages). If I remember I'll look it up on the box tonight.
