    YOUR Ultimate Concert

    This orchestra takes requests!

The Toledo Symphony Orchestra have a 'request' concert planned for April 12. The repertoire for the concert will be chosen by listeners and subscribers.

One can read an article about this here-

It got me thinking. Hypothetically, how would you set up your ultimate concert? It can have a theme (or not,) you can have any soloist/s you'd like, any orchestra you like. It can be the usual set-up; overture, soloist piece, orchestra piece, or not. Any conductor. And anyone past or present, as this is purely hypothetical.

Anyone want to give it a try?

    Hi Rojo.

Great initiative from the TSO, big up from here. Being an organist and organ freak my ultimate concert would be sneaking into the court's church in Weimar, and just listen to Johan Sebastian Bach improvising on the organ, where he created most of his works for the instrument.
If I have to leave the organ behind, i'd pay anything to hear a great violin concerto with Paganini as the solist. It had to feature his adagio-playing. (said to be oustandingly beautiful) The orchestra could be the court's orchestra of Mannheim.

My ultimate concert? I'd book the Concert Hall out completely so there were no other audience members present, then I'd get the Sydney Symphony to play:

Liszt: Les Preludes (just cause I love it)
Bach: e minor violin concert (the concert master can handle it just fine)
    interval
    Tchaikovsky: fourth symphony

Since I'm an organist/organ aficionado/organ buff/organ lover my Ultimate concert would take place in two venues: 1. St. Sulpice w/ organ works of Cesar Franck. 2. Wanamaker organ at Macy's in Philadelphia w/ Wagner transcribed for organ.

Now, a concert w/ full symphony plus piano soloist would then have to be Tchaikovsky's 2nd Piano Concerto and Rachmaninoff's 3rd Piano Concerto.
