Judy - I used to LOVE the ELO when I was a teenager (showing my age, I know!!)
I have discovered this group again myself after thirty years!I won't
tell anyone. I will be showing my age too with this thread. I was in
my teens too when this group was so popular with songs like Tightrope,
Rockira, Living thing, and Turn to stone. Don't forget Do Ya!

Saw ELO II (ie, minus Jeff Lynne but with Bev Bevan, Kelly Groucutt and Mik Kaminski) when they toured Australia many years back with a full orchestra. Nobody put a note wrong and the orchestra and band together sounded superb. Only a small percentage of the repertoire was from their (then) new album, the majority of the set was all oldies ... and yes, I knew every single one of 'em!Show ended with a double header of Roll Over Beethoven and Don't Bring Me Down, replete with pyrotechnics, lasers, the lot - brilliant show.
Picked up a copy of the ELO Zoom DVD a couple of years back. Also a fun show - Jeff still has it that's for sure!
Music is made to transform the states of the soul, for an hour or an instant (J. Alain)
I wonder what Jeff Lynne is doing now? ELO too for that matter.
I wished a new group would step into their trail and walk in their
footsteps and sound like them. There are two bands now. One
does Land Of Confusion and another just sounds like Genesis.
Why can't one sound like ELO?

I love playing this song myself on the guitar. It's got a very interesting
A flat chord that you have to get to.

I think it's the ascending melodic line that gets me. That and the fantastic violin solo.
