What is the most violent storm you have been in?

Are there any other destasters that any of you have been in. I know
that within the last year. I have endured a drought and hot temperatures
which made me feel like I was in Arizona during july, watch a tree fall
apart because of a resent ice storm three months ago,and a slight
earthquake last month. Even a flood a few weeks ago. How about you?

My Goodness Judy, you seem to have been involved in a lot of different weather, I feel for you.

We are fairly lucky here, we did have an earthquake in the Uk a few months ago, but it was minor compared to other parts of the world. The most that happened was a man lost his chimney.

You are so right. My neck of the woods and the rest of the New
Madrid area was so lucky compairing to China's earthquake. Not
too many of us were hurt. Maybe a few cuts and bruises, but none
of us got killed. I just got shook out of my bed. Dumbfounded as
I was I didn't know what hit until I saw my last Christmas Ponsetta
do something like a hula dance. Then I yelled EARTHQUAKE!

You never got a ponsetta at christmas? These little plants look like
small trees with big red leaves on top and grow wild in Cancun Mexico.

Well, speaking of other disasters. There was this major flood in my city back in 1997. It is said that such floods take place once for a hundred years. I was 'honoured' to be alive when it occured. The water in the place where I live reached the height of two metres (~6,5 ft) or even more. Fortunately, I live in a block of flats on fourth floor so I was save but couldn't leave my aprtament for three days because of the remaining water.

In Denmark and probably Sweden, we call this plant: Star of Christmas. (Julestjerne):banana::trp::lol::lol::lol::lol:

And in Poland we call it Star of Bethlehem (Gwiazda Betlejemska)

There is such a plant called the Star of Bethlehem. It's a beautiful
cactus with blooms that are colored with white, blue, and red petals.
Then there is the ponsetta that grows wild in cancun.

The worst storm that I have been through was Hurricane Wilma, which pretty much destroyed my beautiful yard. Luckily, our home and contents were left unharmed as were we and our pets. But Wilma was the seventh hurricane that we had experienced in two years and was a great impetus for our deciding to leave Florida.

Having only been touched by the fringes of Hurricane Katrina I can surely empathize with the poor residents of the Gulf Coast.

Truly, it is something that carried too much of an emotional load for me and I didn't feel that I it was something I cared ever to relive. My heart goes out to those still not recovered from the disaster.

That year Dennis after downgrading to a tropical storm traveled up
north through Kentucky as well as Katrina and brought us some much
needed rain. That came as close as I ever got to being in such a
hurricane. We do have something close to it frozen called a blizzard.
That happened the year my husband died. He wanted a white Christmas.
He got his wish before he died.

Hi greatcyber,

Did you know that the flooding in Iowa, Illinois and now Missouri has already caused more economic damage to America than what happened in New Orleans? Where are the FEMA trailers? Where are the cash vouchers? Where are all those services that New Orleans got?

Just a thought...

Those FEMA trailers turned out to be hazardous to the health of those very people the government was supposed to be helping and they had to be scrapped. The flooding is horrendous. At the time, Katrina was called the worst natural disaster in the US. It just continues.

Yet the government says there is no global warming.
