• Welcome to the Pipe Organ Forum! This is a part of the open community Magle International Music Forums focused on pipe organs (also known as "church organs"), organists, organ music and related topics.

This forum is intended to be a friendly place where technically advanced organists and beginners (or even non-organists) can feel comfortable having discussions and asking questions. We learn by reading and asking questions, and it is hoped that the beginners (or non-organists) will feel free to ask even the simplest questions, and that the more advanced organists will patiently answer these questions. On the other hand, we encourage complex, technical discussions of technique, music, organ-building, etc. The opinions and observations of a diverse group of people from around the world should prove to be interesting and stimulating to all of us.

As pipe organ discussions can sometimes become lively, it should be pointed out that this is an open forum. Statements made here are the opinion of the poster, and not necessarily that of the forum itself, its administrator, or its moderators.

In order to post a new topic - or reply to existing ones - you may join and become a member by clicking on Register New User. It's completely free and only requires a working email address (in order to confirm your registration - it will never be given away!). We strive to make this a friendly and informative forum for anyone interested in pipe organs and organ music.

A website IMSLP currently down for silly reasons, is expected to be up an running again in June or July (2008). This site was (is) a valuable source for PD (public domain) music scores for a variety of instruments. I had used it extensively in the past and am equally anxious for the site to become operational once again.

Other than that site, I haven't a clue where one could find this score, unless one was willing to pay exorbitant fees for music that is clearly public domain, and should be readily available to the general public for no cost.

Hi
You should say it is "Aus der Tiefe rufe ich"
choral, in E minor. I think it has been composed by Bach's son Carl Philipp.
I'll search for a midifile. I if find it, I will make a score for you from this midifile.

Good afternoon, Musicalis,
Oh yes, in actual fact it is that choral (with choral prelude) in E minor.
I heard the piece was composed Carl Philipp Bach as well. But it is beautiful anyway. Sadly I did not find its midi file too.
Alas! There is not the choral in Logos Virtual Library too.
Thanks!

here it is ...

worthy of note: it's classed as "spurious". Also, notice the very odd octave pedal writting. Now I know where Vierne, Widor et al got their ideas from for this disugsting techical acrobatic.

When those appear, I just ignore the upper octave notes. It's a beautiful piece though ... even if Bach is thought of not being the composer.

Thank you very much!
:) Yes, I know about its ambiguous origin. I have already noticed the odd octaves - they look like ones in organ works transcripted for the piano.
But, to our horror such octaves as those are even in the greatest Bach's piece, toccata and fugue in d-moll bwv 565.
Anyway I don't think the piece (bwv 745) would be quite bad for J.S.Bach
