I wish I could have been there, both nights. All credit to the understudies who just carried on, despite all the confussion.

It just goes to show composers don't have to do comedies, the perfomers will manage all on their own.

I bet all opera singers were thinking, glad it wasn't me.

Well I think the audience got their monies worth and some more. A talking point for a long time.

marval - I'm sure in Britain you get the weekly Metropoliant Opera Broadcasts, yes? We get them on Sunday evenings: I turn the T.V. off and take the phone off the hook and don't answer the door if someone knocks.

I'm really surprised that the UK doesn't get the broadcasts via BBC radio. We've had them here for a few years now, every opera in the season. It's my Sunday evening addiction. Last night was Verdi's Ernani (not an opera I know particularly well).

I have been to classical concerts with whole symphony orchestra
playing some serious classical music. All of the sudden before the
9th symphony of Beethoven or Porgy and Bess being played and
sang by two opera singers. All of the sudden the bass section gives
away beneth the players and fall through and then rest follows is
just as funny. I witnessed that with a high school band concert.
