Ok, here's one that already has an association.

Have been waiting for CD to jump in, not being sure about the musical association to the birth of Venus. Could it be Holst?

Hi ON - Hi Ms. RoJo,

Well, I'm torn between a few different interpretations: Adam and Eve, Venus - this is problematical if one thinks of Holst since then there needs to be a planet imho. Daphnis and Chloe came to my mind also - well, thats it for me - I'm stumped. <: - ?

Nope, and nope. :grin:

I'll give y'all a hint, seeing as I don't think this is a particularly well known work (although personally I think it should be, because I love it. :grin:)

Think of the Pines of Rome composer...

:trp: Correct answer! :clap:

Actually, I guess one could say that it's both. :grin: Respighi made the association long before I did though; the music of his Birth of Venus from the Trittico Botticeliano perfectly depicts her rising out of the ocean. I made a post about it when I first heard it here. There's a free mp3 link and info about the work too-

Edit- I'm listening to it again; one of the most glorious things I've ever heard.

Hi Ms. RoJo,

Here's the next hint: He had a beautiful house in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Ok, now I have almost given you the answer to who it is - you now need to give me the name of the piece - next hint: The piece is played from start to finish with no discernable breaks.

Cheers,

CD :tiphat::tiphat::tiphat::tiphat:

Dear Ms. RoJo,

You're half-way there - tell ya what - the piece I wished to illustrate is "Ein Heldenleben".

Cheers,

Aaaaah. Ok. I can see that. Who is the painter, and what is the painting called?

I guess I'll go look for a pic to post. :grin:

Hi Ms. RoJo,

I'm sorry - I don't know who the painter is or what the painting is entitled. :cry::bawl:

I had typed in "Ein Heldenleben" into the Google search field and checked out the different Google images.

Sorrowfully yours,

Hi Ms. RoJo,

Thanx for your meekness in re to my weakness. What a great canvas you have chosen :up::up::up:

Hmmm - you've stumped the punk(me) - I'm probably way out in centerfield with this guesstimation - The music that has inspired this canvas is "Galaxies" by Urmas Sisask.

Cheers,

CD :tiphat::tiphat::tiphat::tiphat:

O, la la. Monsieur Van Gogh really had some "spontaneous" moments :grin:. It isn't exactly "Clair de lune," right???

:lol: Right; it isn't. Although that would work, I suppose...

Well done identifying the painter. :up:

Have you another guess on the piece? Or I can give a hint...

Well, that would probably work too, but not what I'm going for. :grin:
