On topic:
We once offered tea to some visitors. Walking around the yard picking various wild plants , wild mint, raspberry and blackberry leaves, rose petals (don't remember the rest)....
It made a very nice tasting tea and leaving the rose petals added some visual beauty.
These guests were from the city and were a little uncomfortable in the country. When we presented them with the tea one asked if it was made from the plants we were picking in the woods. We excitedly said YES! thinking there was interest in knowing more about it. Well they all decided that the tea was unsafe  refusing to drink any!! After watching my wife and I enjoying it (we didn't offer to make them a different kind) they boldly and with great courage  tried it and loved it!!!
I guess stuff you get in a box, even if it is the same as you can pick, is safer....

My mother used to make a mean dandelion wine. Quite a kick to it as well

Hmmm that is delicious~and I don't drink alcohol! My daughter made some last year and this year she has some hard cider as well as birch wine. Haven't tried either yet....

For the birch wine she collected the sap and used it as the base. One of her interests is to learn about natural medicines. She makes tinctures, various creams and salves. She's been reading about the use of different types of alcohol used for medicine.....
Ohhhh I just got a sharp pain in my_______better go see the doc :)

I thought Americans ate apple pie with cheese. I hear tell that op norf in england they eat Christmas cake with cheese and a glass of whisky

teddy

Teddy, probably a lot of Americans do, but I'm not one of them. The only cheese I will eat is if it's melted, as on pizza, in lasagna etc. etc.

I prefer ice cream with my apple pie instead of cheese.

Same here, Judy; preferably vanilla. Plus I like the pie warmed up a tad, so there is a nice contrast between it--especially a good, flaky crust--and the ice cream's coolness and sweetness against the tartness of the apple filling.

with hot apple pie you should have cream, ice cream and hot custard. The conbination of hot and cold combined with the different textures and flavours is wonderful.

Still wondering why I am fat?
