lols, Another excellent point! of which I didnt even think.
We have this supperstition that if bird poops on you - thats an omen for money. I wonder if that would work if you went on a bird poop hunt and ate it ;) cause in that case, I might reconsider ;)

Darling Muz, if a bird shits on you it means two things possibly: 1) a visit to the dry cleaners and 2) a visit to your nearest bathroom

haha, thats what Im saying! Superstition is just a good excuse not to feel shitty after you, so ruthlessly, carelessly and without any regard whatsoever, have been shitted on:crazy::p

Well I'm sure they wash the nests first (says me hopefully). Anyway wouldn't bird poo add to the flavour?

Birds nests in Guano sauce (yum, not)

Thats what my husband said about the bird poo in the nests, lols ;).
Does anyone have an idea of what those are actually made of - Im guessing not your usual grass, brunches, dirt? Is that specific bird's nest?

Muzzy, I have seen them here ... but they were actually made of very fine rice noodles interwoven to look like a bird's nest ... then filled with delicious tid bits.

Bird's Nest Soup

Authentic bird's nest soup is made using the nests of the swiftlet, a tiny bird found throughout southeast Asia. The swiftlet lives in dark caves, using a method of echolocation similar to the bat to get around. Instead of twigs and straw, the swiftlet makes its nest from strands of its own gummy saliva, which hardens when exposed to air. Humans who harvest the swiftlet nests often come from families that have made their living this way for generations. Prying the nests from the cave walls is extremely dangerous, and many harvesters die each year.
Once the nests are harvested, they are cleaned and sold to restaurants, where they are served simmered in chicken broth. While I have never tried authentic bird's nest soup, apparently it is an acquired taste - many westerners think it tastes quite rubbery the first time they try it. However it is quite popular throughout Asia, perhaps because it has the reputation of being an aphrodisiac. It is also costly; many western restaurants serve a less expensive version consisting of soup with noodles shaped to resemble a bird's nest.

A little off topic...

On the news this morning there was a report about some new type of makeup/care product. It was made from bird droppings not sure what type of bird.
The price.....$200 per treatment!!!!!:( WOW!!!
My daughter and I laughed so hard. It is hard to imagine someone would pay money, any amount, to have poop smeared on their face.

hmm chili?? i dont even know if it needs anything to go with it ;) unless you like yourself some chili cheese fries!

I recently bought these green pickled tomatoes at our local grocery store - man, that was gooood! They taste just like the ones back home, when our local agriculturers would pickle them in huge wooden crates, and sell them on markets. I'm surprised they were even being sold here - I just cant imagine in as a part of American diet!
