As for the "Roth" cycle, the publisher's own forum mentions that Daniel Roth will record Symphonies 3 & 4, but that 5 & 6 will be done by Stephen Tharp (who is yet another excellent performer).
No slam against Mr Tharp, but I LOVE Roth's playing of the Allegro from the 6th @ St-Sulpice, posted on Youtube.
I'd post the link, but YT is blocked at my workplace.

I guess you mean this clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nKImiR7a4zw.

I love it, too! — Note, however, that it's a clip of Widor #6 (whereas we were talking about Vierne #5 and #6).

All well and good, but sorry, that picture is NOT St. Sernin. It think it's St. Ouen.

Methodist Girl, I'm sort of surprised you had never met that organ. It's justly quite famous, and is one of few C-C organs still pretty much in its original state. There have been quite a number of CD recordings done on it.

St. Sernin is in the city of Toulouse, sort of in the south-central part of France. Google the city and the organ, and you should find a good bit of information. In California, San Luis Obispo is named after a bishop of Toulouse - the full name of the mission is San Luis, Obispo de Tolosa (in Spanish). For those innocent of Spanish, it means, St. Louis, Bishop of
    Toulouse.

The organ cases all have some similarities...

I probably need to apologize. That picture just looks quite different from any other I've ever seen of the St. Sernin organ. I think it's all that light coming through the window. Most pictures I've seen of it seem to be taken up a bit closer. I went on a couple of other sites, and it looks like I stand corrected.

It might be interesting to start a thread on organ cases. No doubt about it, there are some beautiful and quite impressive pieces of work around, and I'd pretty much leave out a lot of the newer modernistic-looking ones. To me, St. Sulpice has always looked rather austere, but the one at St. Bavo in Haarlem, Holland must be a sight to see.

    Aloha dll927,

No worries, mate. We're cool here and very forgiving. WOW! A thread about organ cases - that could be very interesting but it might be superfluous - many organ pictures have been put up in the various threads.

I agree that the organcase in St. Sulpice is austere - I am not exactly fond of it - what do they say: Never judge a book by its cover, so, Never judge an organ by its case, eh?

    Simple, eh?

    Humbly,

    CD
