Alright, I'm the guitarist and back up vocalist for a new band called Muzak. We've been talking though, and we think we may need a new name, due to mispronunciations and misinterpretations of the name. So, I was wondering if anyone would be kind enough to help us out....? :)

I always thought that CLOSE TO THE EDGE would be a killer name for a prog band.

I am with you on CLOSE TO THE EDGE for a name for a prog. rock group. The name equals the title of a YES album as well, an what an album that was. I have always been a fan of YES, however sadly they ended the group too soon.

One name of a prog. rock band, I always smiled about from the very first album "Freak Out" was: The Mothers of Invention, the good ole Frank Zappa band, later in the 1970´s short as: The Mothers. Frank Zappa like Jimi Hendrix was more a phenomena than anything else, and Frank who started his career as a composer of music to B-westerns and even a TV show host - at the time with very short hair, which realy emphasized his big nose (for anything from smoking a High-School diploma to "I´m the slime coming from your TV set" to Dinah Mo Humn and Montana).

The TV show starring a very young Frank Zappa (the guy to the left) on: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l5qmtYuUEGk

How about Chameleon? Reflects the idea that your band might be able to adapt to different styles of music, also harks back to Marillion's 1983 track "She-Chameleon", which was about rock groupies! :)
Great scope for a logo too... :)
